Navy blows up a ship carrying stolen crude oil

The Nigerian Navy said on Sunday it had destroyed a vessel suspected of carrying stolen crude oil in Bayelsa state.

In addition, SOROH Navy NNS SOROH also recovered two AK-47 rifles and six AK-47 cartridges containing a total of 133 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.

NNS SOROH Commander Brigadier General Olushina Ojebode revealed the news at a press conference in Yenagoa.

He said NNS SOROH troops, while patrolling the waters of the Gbaram area in Agbadam-Foropa, encountered six armed men on a motor boat who tried to attack the soldiers.

Soldiers overpowered the gunmen in the exchange of fire before they fled, he said.

He added that the aircraft was dismantled according to certain rules and procedures.
