Governor Babagana Zulum has ordered security forces to eliminate a group known as “Marlian” who are believed to be harassing people in parts of the city’s Maiduguri and Jare.

The Marjan gang, which includes young people addicted to drugs, is notorious for a variety of crimes including extortion, robbery, drugs and terrorism, including the killing of security guards. .

Last Wednesday, Governor Zulum held an emergency security meeting at the government complex in Maiduguri and briefed the media.

“I have convened this emergency meeting of the Security Council to address the security concerns arising in the city of Maiduguri and parts of the Jere local government with the aim of proposing some measures that can be implemented to ensure peace and stability. Concerned about the increase in violence, Zulum said the government intends to restore peace and ensure the safety of all residents in the area.

“I want to assure the people that under my leadership, the Borno state government will not allow this situation to fester. O Muslim brothers, I am reminding us to take the days of Tasu’a and Ashura with the greatest importance. Let us try to worship in these precious days by fasting, praying, giving alms and other good deeds.

Then I call on the Muslim brothers and sisters to continue to unite our heads and unify efforts to protect our religion. Let us gather as brothers and sisters to protect the greatness and teachings of our religion

May God Almighty grant us the ability to fast the blessed days of Tasu’a and Ashura (Amen).
