NDA Latest Update: The Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA, declared that its cadets are preparing for a final outdoor field training exercise and encouraged residents not to be alarmed if they hear gunfire.
Major Victor Olukoya, the academy’s Public Relations Officer, said in a statement in Kaduna that the final exercise will include 70 Regular Course Army, Airforce Regiment, and Direct Short Service Course 27 Army and Course 31 Airforce will hold Exercise Camp Highland in Plateau and Kaduna States from July 30 to August 11, 2023.
He asked residents in Aninkwa, Insame, and neighboring areas to avoid the live shooting area during the practice.
The exercise, according to the statement, will test the cadets’ leadership skills, physical fitness, and command and control abilities, among other military competencies, and is an important military training activity used to determine the cadets’ readiness for commissioning as officers into the Nigerian Armed Forces.
He went on to say that the Plateau State portions of the exercise would involve a map reading exercise at Heipang and adventure training at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre in Shere Hills, Jos, from July 30 to August 4, 2023.
He claimed that tactical maneuvers and battle inoculation drills will take place in the Kachia general area from July 31 to August 11, 2023, and that communities in the Heipang region would be included. and Shere Hills, Jos, Plateau State, should expect mass movement of military personnel, vehicles, and equipment from July 30 to August 4, 2023.
It went on to say that residents of the Katul Crossing – Fadan Kamantan axis in Kaduna State’s Zangon Kataf Local Government Area would be subjected to the same tactical maneuvers including small arms and artillery fire from July 31st to August 11th, 2023.
He advised inhabitants in these areas to report any security threats to the appropriate authorities.
He stated that battle inoculation, which would include live fire of small arms, armor, and artillery weapons, will take place from August 8th to August 11th, 2023, within the Military Exercise Area near the Nigerian Army Base Camp in Kachia.
