Chukkol accuses EFCC new trainees of zero tolerance for corruption
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC Acting Chairman Abdulkarim Chukkol asked the new trainees of the Commission Academy to refrain from corrupt practices and strictly abide by the code of integrity and responsible conduct.
He made the allegation on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the graduation ceremony of trainees at EFCC College, Karu, Abuja.
He admonished new trainees: “The Commission has zero tolerance for corruption, misconduct and unprofessional conduct. You all take an oath of allegiance and secrecy, loyalty to the State, EFCC and strict secrecy of any knowledge that may be acquired in the discharge of your duties”.
The EFCC boss went on to stress that “all acts of corruption, disloyalty, disobedience, disobedience will be dealt with immediately and violators will be kicked out of the gate”. He further required the trainees to be familiar with EFCC’s Institution Act, Staff Regulations and Handbook to guide their day-to-day activities.
Likewise, Council Secretary Dr George Ekpungu urged graduates to maintain the highest level of integrity and honesty and to display respectable standards of decorum wherever they are located.
“We are EFCC and we operate with integrity, honesty and the highest standards. What you are witnessing today, many people have made great sacrifices. Most importantly, you must operate with integrity. I say this today because I am the chair of the APD Council Appointments, Promotions and Disciplinary Committee.
The Dean of the EFCC Faculty gave an opening address earlier. EFCC Commander Peter Ayo Olowoniyi called on cadets to be guided by the truth wherever they go. He also thanked President Bora Ahmed Thinu, EFCC Chairman, administrators and all committee staff for making this ceremony a reality.
“The joy with which we celebrate today can be shared by many. We thank the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, my able Chairman, the Administrator and the rest of the committee staff for making this ceremony a reality. The College Management has never turned down any of our requests. We thank Mr. Chairman.
A total of 318 students graduated from the college. They are trained in legal research, operations, finance, general research, forensics, field research and ICT. The graduation ceremony also presented awards in three different categories: the Commander’s Award, the Best Largest Rifle and Pistol Award, and the Merit Award.
The best graduate student was Ikotun Oluwa Sola, the second was Babalola Modupe Marry and the third was Olalere Waheed Abiodun.
Yusuf Mohammed Fawal was awarded the Best Rafele Award, while the Federation’s Best Female Raffler Award went to Atele Mary Igyatwen.
The Best Ladies Pistol award went to Hauwa Mohammed and the Best Men’s Pistol award went to Abubakar Abdullahi Sani.
Dubbed “IT Idea of the Year,” the Commander’s Award went to two cadets who developed apps for the EFCC Academy: Salim Sani Zakariyya and Anyu Afa Samuel
